I am planning to move to Colombia at the start of the financial year next year 2025 to retire early. I have already taken out my 25% tax free lump sum from my company pension and i want to draw down £1000 a month of the remaining pot. This will be my only income. I am aware that i shouldn't be taxed on this amount as it falls under the personnel allowance tax bracket but i have heard that i will be emergency taxed on this amount which i can claim back.
My question is: Will the emergency tax come out of the first months £1k or monthly? Would it be easier for me to draw out £12k in one lump and deal with claiming back the emergency tax that way? I would rather keep my monthly draw downs as financial evidence for applying for my retirement visa.
Any help and advice would be much appreciated!
