Keeping Expenses Records?

I am partly self employed and want an easy way to record all of my expenses so when it comes to tax return it is simple.

Is there a free shareware program that you can get to record them?

ie. running costs, staionary etc etc

I use a excel spreadsheet but it isnt very good.

You could track down shareware accounts programs but from your information Excel should do the job perfectly as this is the type of work which it is designed for. Perhaps you merely need to re-design your excel worksheet so that it performs the job more effectively.
