Hello all,
I am a contractor who makes use of sub-contractors. I want to know if the money i spend on the christmas party is allowable for tax purposes. I plan to take the subbies out for a meal and drink at christmas as a thank-you for their hard work in 2008.

Thanks

Unfortunately it looks to me like entertaining, and the expenditure is not allowed.

Isn;t entertaining your own staff an allowable expense to a certain limit ?

Hi Pauly

Entertaining your own staff is allowable up to £150 per head subject to certain restrictions, subcontractors are not staff though.
