Male, late 30s, GSOH, seeks good book on capital allowances

Hi there

I've spent too many hours in the past trawling through CCH and Tolley's manuals on different taxes, only to give up, exasperrated, after failing to find a straight answer to my question.

Can anyone recommend a plain english guide to current capital allowances (2008-09 at least)? Not convinced one exists, but it needs to be sufficiently detailed to cover a myriad of specific items going into property improvements, rather than just the general rules about what types of expenditure qualify. I.e. a very detailed idiots guide, for an idiot needing detailed guidance...

PS also enjoy walks in the park
