Hi there

I've spent too many hours in the past trawling through CCH and Tolley's manuals on different taxes, only to give up, exasperrated, after failing to find a straight answer to my question.

Can anyone recommend a plain english guide to current capital allowances (2008-09 at least)? Not convinced one exists, but it needs to be sufficiently detailed to cover a myriad of specific items going into property improvements, rather than just the general rules about what types of expenditure qualify. I.e. a very detailed idiots guide, for an idiot needing detailed guidance...

PS also enjoy walks in the park
