UK tax taken off total rents

Postby mikeF00 » Sun Nov 22, 2015 7:12 pm

hI, you've probably been asked this before but here goes...

im filling in on-line tax returns and I've got to the part where it asks for

"UK tax taken off total rents".

Firstly ,can i give you my particular scenario (which i imagine id very common!)

i rent out a small unfurnished domestic property, i don't live there, i live elsewhere in the uk ,and i have permeant full time job in a separate industry.

Does this question apply to me?, if so, how do i calculate the amount it asks for?

Very unlikely if you collect the rents yourself.

In some circumstances a letting agent may be required to deduct tax from rents collected and remit this to HMRC.
