I have recently inherited some money. I am now in the process of investing and would like to buy my husband and myself the maximum amount of premium bonds as a temporary measure whilst we make further decisions. Please can someone advise me as to whether my husband is will have to pay any tax on this initial sum. Many thanks.

Gifts between spouse are tax free. There is no income tax or capital gains tax charge on receiving a gift.

All prizes on premium bonds are tax free.
