When a property is sold which is eligible for CGT, when and how should you tell HMRC?
Or do you wait for HMRC to send you a bill?
Also, how is the CGT paid? I presume as a lump sum?

It's done in the property pages of a self assessment form which HMRC will send you when you tell them. The actual payment is due by the 31st of January in the year following the FY year you sold the property.

I think you mean Capital Gains Tax pages.
