Tax info on share sale?

Not sure if I am wording this too well, I've been trying to do some reading on the subject but it's not getting any clearer to me.
If I sell shares that make a profit over the personal CGT allowance then can any unused normal personal tax allowance also be set against the gain?
Is it worth paying for advice on stuff like this?

I'm afraid not. Your unused Income tax allowance can not be used against your CGT. Regards Peter
