When do I realise my cgt gain

Hi
I am hoping someone knows the answer to this.

I sold foreign shares (Indian Company) in last tax year but received the cash in Sterling in this tax year. Can someone advise when is the gain realised as far HMRC is concerned. I have hunted around but cant find any documentation.

As regards CGT the date of disposal of any asset is generally the date an unconditional contract for disposal of the asset is entered into and the date of completion or date the cash received is not relevant
