CGT - 2nd home after separation

Postby Calder28 » Wed Mar 06, 2019 10:01 pm

Hi

Me and my partner ( not married ) are in the process of splitting up and we agreed that I will stay in our main home with the kids and he will move into our buy to let property. He is now planning on only staying there for 6 months before selling up. I know that he will benefit from PRR and lettings relief as it will be his main residence but what about me ? I have never lived in the property so will we have to pay full CGT on my half ?

Yes.
With a pinch of salt take what I say, but don't exceed your RDA
