Indexation/Taper relief/CGT

Postby kiloware43 » Tue Sep 24, 2019 5:45 pm

Have held listed shares since May 1995, now considering selling . Confused about indexation and taper relief in the intervening years. Gain is sure to breach CGT allowance.
Are the 10% and 20% CGT rates meant to simplify the process, with the entry figure being the 1995 share price? Or is there still some allowance for indexation/taper, and if so how is it calculated?

Thanks

There is no indexation/taper relief for a disposal made now. The purchase price plus any commission you paid will be your cost price.
