CGT on previous home

Postby tony2521 » Sat Jan 04, 2020 10:29 pm

Hi

I am selling my first house in which i lived from 2014 - 2018. I moved out from it in July 2018 and rented it out.
I am now thinking of selling it and will make a profit of 40K on it.

What CGT relief will i get?
Will there be any difference in the CGT relief if i am not able to sell before April 2020.

Thanks

This article should help:

If you sell after April 2020, you may be liable to CGT.

A sale in say July 2020 gives rise to no CGT charge despite adverse changes introduced from April 2020.

Sale pre 6 April 2020 again produces no CGT charge.

CGT payable on a sale post April 2020 after total ownership around 7 years assuming 40k gain.
