CGT in shares

Hi All,

I am seeking some help with regards tax on profits made from shares invested through retail broker (eToro and H&L).

1) Do you have to include profit in self assessment if you made profit from shares invested through broker but your profits are bellow capital gain tax £12300 (2020/21) ?

2) For sole purpose, if you borrow to invest (gearing), can you offset loan payments (capital & interest) against profits ? (note - investor is individual, so no wealth firm nor financial
adviser is involved in transaction)

Many Thanks
Duff
