CGT liability if move into investment property

Postby djc123 » Sun Nov 07, 2021 11:03 am

I have owned an investment property for 20 yrs, lived there for 4 years, rented out for 16. I also own my main residence which I now wish to sell and move back into my investment property. How do I calculate and pay the CGT which is due on the investment property?

There is no CGT due until you sell it.
With a pinch of salt take what I say, but don't exceed your RDA

Is the CGT fixed at the date I move back in, or is it calculated at the date of sale?

It's calculated at the date of sale, and time apportioned to take account of PPR occupation.
