Change of Main Home nomination for PPRR

Postby estateexec » Sun Apr 17, 2022 6:12 pm

I understand that the nomination of a different property as one's main home can only be done within 2 years of a change in the combination of properties owned. Can someone advise if those properties in the combination need to be UK properties, or does the purchase of an overseas property count towards a change in the property combination held, even if it is not the property becoming the main residence?

No; overseas properties may qualify.

The newly acquired property enables a new nomination as and when it becomes a residence (ie a change in the combination of residences occurs).

Dear maths, thankyou for your answer. You say overseas properties "may" qualify, could I ask if there are key factors when they would not qualify. ie. do freehold and leasehold properties both qualify?
