EIS Tax Relief

Postby mp2016 » Tue Aug 29, 2023 1:30 pm

Hi

I was hoping that someone cold provide advice regarding a historic EIS invest that I made.

I invested in a EIS qualifying company in November 2018 but forgot to claim the EIS relief.

1. Is it still possible to claim?

I am paid PAYE so do not fill in my own tax returns.

I was given the EIS compliance certificate and claim form by the company.

2. If i can still claim, how do I do this, what section of the claim form do I fill in and how do i submit this?

3. Do HMRC send me a cheque for the amount as the tax year has passed?

Thanks in advance

1. Yes. You are still in time to make a claim. You have 5 years after the 31 January following the end of the year in which you made the investment. That gives you until 31 January 2025 to claim.

2. You fill out the claim section of the EIS3 and send it to HMRC. Search for the address online.

3. Bank transfer or cheque.
