Late payment fine

Postby Squibbs » Fri Mar 22, 2024 1:09 pm

Hi all.
I sold a flat in Jan 2022 and paid my CG. Debited from my account in February 2022.
Just received a letter saying that I owe interest of £146.59 because of late payment.
The letter says, 'Date payment was made' 31st Jan 2023.
I have been waiting on the phone for half an hour.
I've written a letter, but by the time they answer it, several months, they won't answer the questions they will only increase the late payment amount.
What can I do?
Regards.
Squibbs.

Was it filed and paid under the 60 day reporting requirements? (Might have been 30 days back then, cant remember when it changed)

Was it also reported on your tax return for the year? (Must report tax paid and the CGT payment reference number on the return)

When reporting on the TR, did it result in more tax being due? If so, was this paid on time?
