P45 not sent by employer to HMRC

Postby Smith2094 » Thu Nov 25, 2021 3:02 pm

Hi.

I am wondering if anyone can advise.
I have received my p45 from my previous employer when I left the company in July 2021 it is now 4 months on and HMRC have notified me that they still have not received my p45 from my ex employer.
I have contacted my ex employer and the payroll provider they use several times who keep telling me I can send my p45 to HMRC as proof but ofcourse HMRC wont accept this.
I am at my witts end trying to figure out what to do.

Can anyone help with any advice?

Many thanks

You are somewhat out of date.

Employers stopped sending P45's to HMRC about 7/8 years ago.

They now report earnings details under the Real Time Information (RTI) system.

What you need to check is if the latest RTI submission includes a leaving date. Have you checked your Personal Tax Account to see what the latest position is?

Also, what exactly are you trying to achieve, that might be useful information to understand what the actual issue is.
