I've just been passed a PA302 (Simple Assessment) for a client, which shows tax due for 22-23 as £1743.40. This assessment does not include Foreign Dividends (£278) or Dividends (£5288) which are included in the on line calculation showing tax due of £2215.12. How is the taxpayer to know that this "assessment" is garbage? If he pays the tax demanded he'll underpay by c£470 and incur interest, not to mention additional fees to sort it out. Which idiot at HMRC thought this was a good idea?
