Can SA accounting period be 1 April to 31 March instead of 6 April to April?

Hello, my tax year on my SA 103 form has for many years showed 1 April - 31 March instead of 6 April - 5 April as is at the top of the form. So that is the accounting period I use for my income and expense reporting. Does this matter or shall I continue have my tax year be several days "off?" I had an accountant until around 6 years ago and that must be how he set it. I now use GoSimpleTax and do my accounts myself as they are very straighforward and with a low income still in the 20% tax band. Many thanks for any advice!
