1. Can a taxman ask for personal bank statements-, does it make a difference if a separate business bank account exists
2. Can the taxman ask for the bank statements of the investigated person's wife.
3. Can you give us a rough guide as to what is reasonable request from the taxman and what is unreasonable.

I think you will find 1 and 2 is yes. The reason is to find out what you and your wife have banked so they can call it unidentified banking (income) So before your show them make sure you mark how you got this money to bank and remember they will still ask for proof (ie a friend gave it to me)copy of his bank statement.
