I work for a small performance company based in the UK. We are contracting a performer who lives in France. While we will be paying her, all of the work will be undertaken outside of the UK, ie. on tours throughout europe. I have been advised to go through the FEU but this is only for people coming to do the work in the UK. I have called the IR and even they don't really know. Do we deduct tax for her?? I would greatly appreciate any information on this to put me on the right track. Thank you

Contact Equity who should be able to point you towards someone who deals with international artists.

Dear Izzou,

you need proper professioan ladvice and EQUITY is not the avenue for that.

This is a question of International Tax law.

Is the woman going to be an employee of your company.

are you going to have a companytax liability in any place you perform as a result of either local tax laws or having a permanent establishment?

These are issues which you need advice on and which I can assist with.
