Tax in new job after redundancy and gap

Postby Buckfastbrother » Wed Dec 05, 2018 8:21 pm

Desperately seeking some advice as site has been nothing less than useless. I was made redundant at the end of August this year having earned approx 20k to that point. I was unemployed for 2 months and then started a job for 15 hours per week....earning approx £240 per week. Will I get taxed fully since I went over my allowance in my first job? Or should I pay low tax because the earnings are low? Sorry but so confusing and if I have to pay full tax on such low earnings it seems ridiculous. Any advice appreciated.

Give them your P45 or P45U and you'll get your allowances in full and pay correct amount of tax.
