Can i claim the interest on my late father in laws income tax rebate?

Hi All,

Not sure where i stand here so thought id ask? My father in law passed away recently and i am the executor of his will. i have informed the just ask once dept.
I have since received a letter from HMRC stating that my late father in law did not have anything outstanding. the next day i received a cheque for the tax year 2007-2008 ?!! with a rebate of £287.83 obviously this cheque is 11 years too late! where do i stand with regards to asking HMRC for the interest on this amount over the past 11 years?

Many thanks in advance.

Are you sure it is not 2017-18. It's unlikely HMRC will be looking at 2007-08.

Interest is usually automatically added to repayments made more than 12 months after the end of year. If interest has not been paid it supports the view that it is for 2017-18.
