Tax threshold 2019 ???

Postby Pianoworldstage » Thu Oct 03, 2019 4:07 pm

Hi,

Latest google research tells me for 2019, these are the figures one can earn in the UK before paying tax.. £12,500 annual, £1,041 month, £260 week.

Is this correct?

It depends what you mean by 2019 - if you mean the tax year running from 6/4/2019 to 5/4/2020 then the answer is yes. Note tax years always run 6th april to following 5th april so there is no specific amount that one can earn in the calendar year before tax applies.

Also it depends what your tax code is. The standard personal allowance is not always applied to everyone as there may be relevant deductions or allowances in the tax code.

The reason in posting the thread is that I'm looking to take on part time work of 24hrs a week at the NMW £8.21hr, totalling a weekly income to £197, assuming one can earn £12,500 annual before tax, would leave a deficit of £63 under the threshold.. if I'm correct?
