Split Year - UK Personal Allowance

Postby RAYSTAX2000 » Sun Jun 28, 2020 8:24 am

Hi,

I am returning to the UK and will need to Split my Tax Year for 2020/2021. I've been working abroad for 3 full years and am coming back in October 2020.

My question is: As I'll have 6 months in the UK, does my Personal Allowance of £12,500 get split as well, so it'll be £6,250? or does HMRC apply a differenct rule/calculation.

Many thanks,

Raymond

If your resident then you get a full PA, even if you also split the year.
