BNO income tax

Postby cheungjames » Mon Aug 24, 2020 4:39 am

Hi Everyone,

If I retired with HKD X million (ORSO fund) in Nov 2020, and obtained BNO 5+1 visa for Aug 2021, then do I need to pay the income tax for this HKD X million after I have arrived UK in Aug 2021?

Or is it the case that I only need to pay tax for the income between 1 Apr 2021 to 31 Mar 2022 only during 2022?

Or if I arrive in the UK after Nov 2021, then is it true that I would not be eligible as tax payer for 6 Apr 2021 to 5 Apr 2022 due to the fact that I would have only resided in the UK for about 5 months?

Many thanks,

J
