Employed in the UK + German income

Postby Bear2020 » Sun Nov 29, 2020 9:49 pm

Hi there,
I’m a German citizen and have been living in the UK for 7 years (settled status). I’m employed at a UK company and have also rental income from a flat I own in Germany.

Since today I’ve done a German tax declaration of the income in Germany (c. 15k per anno) and PAYE in the UK (c. 70k per anno)

Is that the correct way of doing that? Or do I need to state my UK income in the German income tax declaration and anything here in the UK?

Appreciate your advise!

The property income should also be declared in the UK, but credit is given for any tax paid in Germany.

Thanks for the swift response.
Do I need to declare my income I have in the UK in my German tax declaration?

You employment income is not taxable in Germany for as long as you remain resident in the UK and not resident in Germany.

Thanks again!
A bank that holds the depot of some investments I have made in Germany wrote me that to their information I’m taxable in Germany and the UK (due to my UK phone number)
What should I respond to this letter?
Technically I’m taxable in the UK but doing my tax declaration in Germany makes me also taxable their, so the I formation the bank states is correct?
Apologies for the silly questions but would be great to get clarification on this. I would like to treat this correctly.
Thanks!

Interest will only be taxable in UK.

Dividends from German registered companies are taxable in both.
