R40 Claim

Postby charlie19283 » Tue Feb 16, 2021 10:42 am

I've submitted an R40 form for 18/19 - I got quite a bit back in PPI claims and decided to claim back some of the tax from it.

But when I've got the letter back from HMRC it says the claim is for 19/20 not 18/19

Is this more likely to be an administration error or would they normally look at different years for trying to make a claim?

It could be an error.

Was it clear from the R40 which year you were claiming for?

Will it a fully make any difference to the refund?

No, I don't think it would affect it because none of my circumstances have changed.

I called HMRC and they said it's their normal practice to investigate all the years and make the payment for that year. I don't understand this because if i've clearly written one year on my form, how can they look into other years?
