Split tax residency (FR -> UK) & NI

Postby questionmark » Wed Mar 24, 2021 6:43 pm

Hello all,

I have a question regarding split tax residency.

I had a full-time job in France in 2020, from 13/1 to 13/7. I then left France permanently and immigrated to the UK on 13/8. I have no income in the UK since and have never lived in the UK before, only visited thrice in 2015, 2018, 2019, a combined stay of 9 or 10 nights.

Would I be able to claim my personal allowance for received "during" the UK tax year 20/21, after 6/4/2020? Moreover, I am still waiting for my NI application to be processed, would it also impact anything?

Thanks! :)
