Working abroad and tax allowance

Postby lunar » Sun Nov 14, 2021 11:42 am

If I were to work abroad, e.g. Abu Dhabi, were it is tax free. Would I still be entitled to the £12,500 tax allowance in England, as I would not have worked in England? Subsequently, would I then be able to complete my tax return in the knowledge that £12,500 is deducted from earnings in the UK from BTL.
Thanks.

If you qualify as non-UK resident throughout a tax year, you will need to claim a UK personal allowance in the residency supplementary pages of your tax return.
