Commercial premises earnings

Postby Matty c » Tue Aug 27, 2024 10:06 pm

Hello. I'm currently a sole trader. Earn approx 35k a year.

My wife is a house wife and has no income. She has a company set up which she was self.employed over last few years. And now has stopped doing it, and have no income

My question is. We both have a commercial property which brings in £11,400pa

Do I put the whole £11,400 through her side.

Or do we split it 50/50 and put £5,700 through.my accounts and £5,700 through hers

Am I right in saying it would be better to use all her allowance up.and put the £11,400] through my wife's earnings

The income is split 50/50 unless you elect for a different split using Form 17.
With a pinch of salt take what I say, but don't exceed your RDA
