MAPS 2 employers?

Postby paulfoel » Tue Jan 21, 2025 11:59 am

Employer 1 - 15000 miles at 20pm

So I can claim MAPS at (45pm-20pm = 25pm for the first 10000) then (25pm-20pm =5pm for the extra 5000)?

£0.25x10000 = £2500
£0.05x5000 = £250

TOTAL = £2250

Employer 2 - 6000 miles at 28pm

I'm assuming the 10000 does not start again? Because I'm already over 10000 business miles does this mean I have to subtract? (25pm-28pm = -3pm) for the 6000 miles?

£0.03 x 6000 = -£180?

So my MAPS claim would be £2250-£180 = £2070

Admitedly, at 20% tax rate its not a huge amount but want to get it right.

You might find this worth a read.

Remember claiming expenses (the amount you are getting tax relief on) of £2,500 or more involves registering for Self Assessment and completing a tax return.

I think you mean MAR (relief).

The full amount 45p/25p is available per employment, as long as the employments are not connected.

The easiest way to work it out is to calculate the relief using 45/25, then deduct the actual amount received.

Sorry MAR I mean yes.

Ah so you're saying a different employment would start off at 45p for 10000 miles counted separately?
