Sole trader or limited company while PAYE

Postby jaysix6 » Sat May 17, 2025 8:17 pm

Hi all,

After some advice please…

I have a full time job (PAYE) £48,000 yearly salary.

Plan 2 student loan

I was thinking to start Uber during evening and weekends.

From a tax point of view what would be the best route for me to take? Sole trader or limited company?

I would expect to earn gross between £2000 - £2400 monthly from Uber.

Estimated monthly expenses based on above income:

£250 fuel £210 insurance £30 licensing costs £80 maintenance / misc

£570 total costs

So walking away with about £1500 monthly net not including tax

Would be grateful for any advice.

Thanks
