I have just entered the higher rate of taxation, could I offset the cost of the travelling I currently need to do to get to work against the 40% tax rate. It costs me £2,500 a year alone in petrol. Sorry the question seems so trivial

Richard

Regretably no tax relief is available for home to work travelling expenses.

If you have more than one place of work, or you normally work from home, relief is available subject to certain restictions.
