A UK resident non-domicile is on the arising basis for 2008/09 foreign income (£30k not appropriate).

He needs to remit substantial amounts of foreign income which arose BEFORE 5/4/2008. Does remittance basis continue to apply to this 'old' income?

aboveusonlysky,

Yes it does to the extent that the remittance represents foreign source income or gains.

However, there are still planning techniques available to mitigate the tax charge on repatriation. If I can help therefore please let me know.
