UK Tax on Non-Resident Property Rental Income

Postby bkm7 » Thu May 15, 2014 11:47 am

As French fiscal residents we have UK Property rental income which the Double Taxation Agreement between UK and France makes taxable in the UK. 2013-2014 is our first tax year and no tax will be due. In 2014-2015 the rental income will be greater than our personal allowances and tax will be due. Will HMRC expect us to calculate and make any pre-payments on 31 Jan 2015 and 31 July 2015?

Hello bkm7,

If you have not done so already you will need to register for self assessment with HMRC so that your tax returns can be filed in respect of the 2014/15 tax year.

The deadline to file these tax returns and pay any tax owing is 31 January 2016 if you submit your tax returns online.

Happy to help so if you need any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me.
Kind regards,
