Export from UK to US

Postby mflynn1990 » Tue Aug 21, 2018 5:57 pm

Hi Everyone,

I have been contracted to fabricate some shipping containers by a company registered in the U.K. I am also a company registered in the U.K.
My quotation consists of custom fabrication of shipping containers then shipping to Philadelphia U.S.
I am wondering how the tax would work. Do i charge for VAT? or would it be 0% and the principle contractor pays he 8% tax over there?

Small breakdown:
Both companies are U.K registered.
I am building the units in the U.K then shipping to the U.S.
Who is responsible for TAX/VAT in U.K or U.S

Thank you for your help in advance. I apologise I am struggling to get a clear answer from anyone.

Matt

Looks like you're supplying to a UK customer, so normal VAT applies.
With a pinch of salt take what I say, but don't exceed your RDA
