Am I a non-dom?

Postby JOHN1958 » Sat May 04, 2019 1:17 pm

I spent the last financial year travelling abroad (2018-19) and just got back.

I've been renting out my flat for 10 years doing self-assessments etc.

I understand that having been abroad more than 6 months affects my residency status and I will complete the necessary forms for that. Does this mean that i would be a non-dom for the previous financial year and, if so, would I be entitled to mortgage interest relief.

I have less than £10k total income per annum from rental income and no other income in UK or abroad.

No. Domicile is not easily changed in comparison to residency.

I assume before the year away, you've always resided in UK?
