IHT - Gifts

Postby Jason123456 » Wed Jul 17, 2019 12:00 pm

If a gift is made from a joint bank account by one of the joint holders by way of an online payment,...from an IHT viewpoint, would it be seen as a gift from that person making the payment (£X) or a payment from the joint holders (£X/2 x 2)?

Ignoring the specific bank account it is paid from, who is actually making the gift?

A Parent to a child,...or a Grandparent to a grandchild.

Unless, of course, there's evidence to the contrary.

It is assumed to be equal. There may be evidence, (letters/deeds etc) which show otherwise.
