Just a quick further comment re premium bonds...

I note that the NS&I website states:

Annual prize fund interest rate: 1.40%.
Interest rates: No interest earned. Instead, the interest rate funds a monthly prize draw for tax-free prizes.


Now, that statement mentions "interest" several times, which reflects my initial thinking regarding including prizes as "interest". Whether our executors can manage to persuade HMRC of that remains to be seen!
