Gift with benifits

Postby kanrent » Sun Aug 25, 2019 12:09 pm

I bought a house for my daughter
I live abroad but have my post sent to the house I bought for her where she is now living.
In other words using the property as a c/o or postal address.
Would this property be classed as a "gift with benifits" by HMRC and subject to IHT as part of my estate when I die

No. If this is your only "use" of the property it will not give rise to a so-called reservation of benefit for IHT.
