Equity Release for IHT

Postby JonnyMac » Thu Sep 05, 2019 9:40 am

I am trying to see if there is a way to use Equity Release that can work for mitigating IHT, I am concerned about the compound interest and not being allowed to borrow to invest from this kind of product.

You should consult a good reliable financial adviser for this sort of thing.

As JohhnyMac said.

Also, the only way to save IHT with equity release is to spend or give away the proceeds. Loans which are used to invest in excluded or relievable assets (such as AIM shares) are not deductible for IHT.
