probat requirment

Postby jayhay » Sun Jul 05, 2020 5:23 pm

My Father has recently died and his will leaves his entire estate to my mother. I am his executor.
As there is no inheritance tax between spouses does this mean I can pass his assets to my mother without the need for probate?

Joint assets don't require probate, but sole assets may require it. Depends on the asset and attitude of asset holder. Some banks do, others don't.

With a pinch of salt take what I say, but don't exceed your RDA
