Death and Joint tenancy

Postby sigmund » Sun Sep 13, 2020 2:11 pm

My wife and I held our house as joint tenants. My wife has died and I am now the sole owner of the house. Do I have to notify the Land Registry and have the property registered under just my name?

It would be sensible to notify LR on Form DJP.

This would mean that you alone would then hold the legal title.

Your wife's beneficial interest in the property would automatically pass to you on her death under the principle of survivorship.
