tax on sale of deceased parent foreign home?

Postby user48 » Mon Jun 14, 2021 12:59 pm

My parent died abroad leaving the only home (located abroad) to be sold and the proceeds divided among my siblings.
My parent was never domiciled in UK, and the home sale was abroad.
I am domiciled in UK .
My share from the home sale were not remitted to the UK and were less than £50K .
Must I pay UK tax on those proceeds and if so, under what categories(IHT, CGT etc), I need to know how to handle this on my self assessment tax return.

As the beneficiary of the estate, no UK taxes arise on your inheritance.
Any taxes due, IHT or CGT, should be paid in your parent's country of residence by the executors.
With a pinch of salt take what I say, but don't exceed your RDA
