deed of variation and domicile

Postby riccardob » Sat Jun 04, 2022 6:59 pm

Hello,

Is ones domicile relevant when selecting to divert and inheritance via DOV?

More specifically, if spouse B is non domiciled, is he able to redirect an inheritance via DOV. Spouse A died domiciled.

Many thanks

A Deed of Variation may be executed by a UK or non-UK domiciled person. Such would be effective for UK tax purposes.

It is, however, unlikely that it will impact under the tax provisions of the country of domicile of the non-domiciled person.
