To keep up my contribution record until I reach 60, I wish to register as self-employed and to make Class 2 contributions rather than Class 3 Voluntary contributions. My current income is solely from a pension scheme and investments.
Can someone please advise what are the minimum requirements to meet the definition of self-employed for this purpose.
Thanks

You would need to engage in some sort of business activity.

However, I suspect that the costs involved might outweigh the extra payment required for Class 3 NIC.
