If a company pays share protection payments for the director shareholders are the premiums subject to Class 1 NIC. The reason i ask is that the protection is there for the company really and thus the director is not seen to personally benefit. I suspect that it is the beneficiary of the money in the policy is what counts?

(They have been included for tax purposes as a benefit in kind)

Thank you for any help given.
